How do I clean mould off old slate in the shower?
What is the best way to get mould off old slate (natural) tiles in a shower? I would prefer natural solutions as I’m against flushing bleach down the drain, but any solutions would be appreciated. A solution that prevents the mould from coming back would also be very appreciated.
I have a small spray bottle from the cosmetic department that I put 2tsp tea tree oil (pharmacy department very cheap) and 12 ounces water. Shake and spray directly onto any mold, allow to sit 2 minutes then wipe away. I use this as an after shower spray and it prevents mold from forming. You also need to make sure that your bathroom has proper ventilation after a shower to allow the moisture to escape which will also help prevent mold from forming. Another thing to consider it that after you have cleaned the shower well and it has dried, you can apply a very thin coat of turtle wax to the walls (not the floor or you will get hurt) to serve as a barrier to mold, dirt and soap scum.
